Description:
The crystal oscillator on the Sun-2 video controller board can lock onto an incorrect frequency when the system is turned on (usually 75 MHz instead of 100 MHz). This will result in a fuzzy picture without the horizontal sync signal. The fix is the addition of a transistor, a diode and two resistors to the Sun-2 video controller board. If you are experiencing this problem on the monitor of your workstation, you need to swap the present video controller'with the latest revision CRev. -08). After replacement of the Sun-2 video controller board, you will need

to adjust the horizontal hold signal, geometry of the picture and possibly the intensity of the monitor.
Contact Sun Customer Support in Mountain View, California to arrange for exchange of the Sun-2 video controller board as required.
You will also receive instruction procedures for replacement of the board and performing monitor adjustments.
